As a business owner, I love to hear other entrepreneurs’ business-origin stories. What inspired them to take the leap? Was it one big aha moment or a series of life events?  My own introduction to entrepreneurship came from the compassion fatigue and burnout that ended my career as a criminal-defense attorney, which motivated me to open my own wellness business. Now, I bridge the legal and health & wellness professions by advising health & wellness business owners on the law and educating attorneys about wellness.

Transforming Pain into Passion

I particularly enjoy talking with business owners who have turned their own lemons into lemonade. Now you get a chance to meet the wonderful entrepreneurs I’ve met!

Meet Gina Skinner-Thebo

Gina Skinner-Thebo of the Atwood Center for Women

I met Gina Skinner-Thebo at a networking event and she caught my attention right away by talking about living and interacting more authentically. I learned that Gina’s best friend in college, Rachel Atwood, committed suicide almost 4 years ago. From the outside, Rachel’s life looked perfect – mother, wife, entrepreneur. Rachel’s death was a shocking blow to Gina, but it has also changed the way she interacts with others. Gina is honest about the hard stuff of daily life, like being a wife, mother of 3, and full-time employee while living with depression.

Wear Your Heart on Your Sleeve

At the beginning of 2018, Gina started the Atwood Center for Women in honor of her friend. Gina hosts quarterly Incredible Women Parties, spotlights the amazing women she meets, and encourages other women to live authentically by wearing their hearts on their sleeve. As Gina says, “The world cannot afford to lose another Rachel.  Join me in transforming how we interact with people.  Wear your heart on your sleeve so that others can see how brightly it shines.”
